   Member - $125

   Non-Member – Adult    $125.  (+ $35 TCCA single membership)

   Non-Member – Youth   $125.  (includes membership)

   Audit                             $  25.

All participants are required to:

  • bring a helmet, gloves and warm clothes

  • have an OE membership or equivalent insurance

 

This is a great opportunity for beginners wanting to learn about driving, harnessing and safety.


 

AGENDA

10:00     TCCA Welcome with Introduction & Overview

The equines, harness and carriages will be on-site compliments of TCCA members.  A broad cross-section from a small pony to a horse offers participants variable experiences.  How much each person is able to do will depend on their ability and experience. 

Morning Sessions

  • three groups of five participants

  • 2 horses per group

The focus will be on

  • long lining a horse – how and why

  • parts of the harness

  • harnessing a horse

  • hitching to a cart

  • techniques of using a whip

  • safety

12:00 Lunch

Afternoon Sessions

An opportunity to drive with instruction from a clinician.  With the horse owner in the left seat of the carriage and the participant in the right seat.  The participant will take the reins with a clinician walking beside while giving instruction.  

3:30 – Summary of Sessions by Clinicians

4:00 – TCCA thank you for your interest and see you at future events – drive for enjoyment and be safe.
